What does the Emotional Freedom Have To Do with the Crisis?

When you perceive the economic crisis as the end of your business or when you worry about the best ways to make money in the future, you are focusing on what is not yet there. By doing so, you cannot have an attitude of gratitude about the ways in which you already are rich.

When we desire something, the universe will manifest it only if we believe it is there. If we have myopia due to our fears, we can’t pretend to see what is there. How can we deal with this problem?

To free yourself from the illusion of need for money, ask yourself some key questions:

-What does money mean to me? What value do I attribute it? Is it a means to buy love, social status, respect, or a more solid identity?

-Does money bring freedom and happiness, or just immediate pleasures such as shopping for new jewelry and electronic gadgets?

-Are you buying security by saving money for bad days?

-Are you using the crisis as an excuse to work more, to hide from yourself your most intimate needs?

-Is money a way to buy forgiveness for your absence from your family?

- Is money buying something else? What?

Exercise One:

Close your eyes and take ten minutes to think about the above questions. Let the answers flow freely. The one that resonates most with you is the right one.

Here are some examples of answers others came up with:

Alexandra buys herself status as a member of an executive gym club to hide her southern Italian origins. Going to the club makes her feel like a “rich” Milanese.

Lisa buys herself security by investing her money in long-term bonds. She says this money is for bad days.

In your case, what is the value you buy with the money you earn or invest?

Exercise Two:

In order to free yourself from the false need you try to meet with money, ask yourself:

-What is the worst thing that could happen if I lost all of my money? If you dig deep you will come up with your worst fear and the answer to “What does money buy for me?”

- Once you discover your worst fear, ask yourself,

“In what other ways can I have security, love, freedom, social status, a sense of importance, etc.?”

You will come up with your most important value.

And you will come up most importantly with various ways to get your values met without money!

In other words, “How can I fill the emotional gap money now fills?”

TIP:

Write a list of all the ways you have feel security, love, freedom etc… without money!

It’s not about about money, it’s never about money! ( check my free e-book to learn more on that)

To see your deep truth, you need to start seeing money as a means rather than a destination.
